Food
During World War II, food was rationed because of shortages. A lot of food had to be shipped overseas for the Allied armies to use. Also, since gasoline and tire supplies were short, transport was very hard. The government printed cookbooks that showed how to stretch your ration coupons, and the government also encouraged families to make gardens. These gardens' were called VICTORY GARDENS and gave a way for American's to feel like they were doing something to help with the war. Growing your own food meant that there would be enough food to feed the soldiers over seas.
