Jobs
Men
Most of the men went out to war, but the ones that stayed had to do essential jobs like being a doctor, miner, farmer, scientist, merchant seaman, railway and dock worker, or utility worker.
Women
Before World War II, women were not required to have jobs, however, in March 1941, women were required to have jobs. Some women even went into the war as soldiers in the armed and land forces. If they were not in the war as soldiers for the armed and land forces, women were mechanics, tank drivers, factory workers, engineers, ship builders, air raid warrens, plumbers, ambulance drivers, WRVS volunteers, or nurses.
